Planning Ahead: Must-Have Coordinates for Warming Weather
Versatile coordinates are must-haves. Everyone needs transitional pieces that carry them through the temperature changes between seasons. As the weather gets warmer, you can't automatically jump to wearing shorts and summer dresses, tempted as you are. Leap of Faith has the 411 on can't-miss coordinates and spring trends to get you through to summer! Keep reading for spring 2019 fashion inspiration.
A Lightweight Jacket
Once the weather heats up the slightest bit, it's tempting to believe that you won't have to wear another jacket until October, maybe even November. What wishful thinking! The good news is that you can store your winter coat for another year. A lightweight jacket is all you need for the early spring trends. A hoodie is a top pick for casual ensembles, but a denim jacket will give your outfit some edge, and a leather jacket will take it out of the stratosphere. On days when the temperature dips dramatically again, opt for the layering approach. A hoodie underneath a denim or leather coat is on-point and easy to pull off with any outfit.
Functional but Fashionable Boots
You can't automatically run out wearing flip-flops or sandals just because the sun's shining. Springtime takes a while to get here. Summer takes even longer. Keep out a few pairs of stylish boots. Put away your winter boots, the heavy-duty footwear that got you through the ice and snow. However, you can get much more use out of your thigh-high boots and booties. Since the snow's finally melting, you can even wear high heel boots without a worry.
A Cardi Party
Cardigans are practically made for transitional weather. A highlight of spring trends, cardigans come in handy. Sometimes, a cardigan is all you need to guard against the nippy, in-between temperatures. Cardis are perfect for layering, as well. Wear your favorites over tee shirts, tank tops, crop tops, and camis. Take it off if you get to warm. Some cardigans can even double as jackets. As the temps continue to climb, stow away your bulky, heavy sweaters. Now you're free to wear breezy, lightweight fabrics and cardis with three-quarter sleeves.
In fall and winter, distressed denim isn't always practical. The cold air gets through all those artful rips and tears, forcing you to wear hose, tights, or even thermal underwear beneath your jeans. For spring 2019 fashion, however, you no longer need those barriers. You can do away with your heavy boot cut jeans if you want to, as well. Pull out your skinny jeans and rejoice in every fray. Now you get to feel the sun on your exposed skin!
A Bevy of Button-Ups
Button-up shirts in lighter fabrics will get you through the warmer weather. Choose soft cotton blends over flannel, but feel free to continue wearing plaid. Chambray shirts are ideal for moderate temperatures, as are crisp linen shirts. Layer them with tees and tanks or wear them on their own, perhaps paired with envelope skorts and tailored shorts.
